and the gods smiled...

The warmth of your hand in mine
Kept in my heart a kiss sweet like wine
Innocence found in the eyes of a child
It was our dream and the gods smiled...

Months will pass, and years will too
Eagles still soar, the places they flew
Soaring so high, for miles and miles
Into a deep blue sky and the gods smiled...

The sand it moves beneath my feet
Small rippling waves cool all they meet
The sun soon melts in the oceans wild
The moonrise comes and the gods smiled...

Dreams like never before and never again
The world it will spin tomorrow, as it did then
Treasures are found in pieces so styled
Links to our past and the gods smiled...

Save for the end the berries, the beasts
Ending all the famines, for all of the feasts
Save for the end the paths left untiled
Holding my hand and the gods smiled...
